Arrive Wednesday to Traverse City and engage in a GO & SEE tour of some of the local missions and ministries taking place.

Tour Local Ministries in Traverse City – Wednesday

 1:30 PM – Tour the Goodwill Inn with Ryan Hannon at 2943 N. Keystone Rd. N., 231-922-4890

3:00 PM – Tour Safe Harbor permanent facility at 517 Wellington Street with Mike Hornby, 231-645-0562

4:30 PM – Tour Habitat for Humanity Depot neighborhood with Bruce Wilson at 1129 Woodmere Ave, 231-941-4663

5:30 PM – Dinner at Traverse City Central United Methodist Church Wonderful Wednesday meal where they will be hosting an indoor picnic meal (hotdogs, burgers, salads, etc.); free will offering for the Summer Youth Mission Trip. 222 N. Cass St., 231-946-5191.

Open House at Northport Indian Mission UMC – Wednesday

4 to 7 PM –Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and escape to Northport Indian Mission UMC at 8626 N. Manitou Trail, Northport, 231-715-1280. There will be light refreshments, conversation and history engaging our Native people and their stories.

Hands-On Mission – Thursday-Saturday

Acme Christian Thrift Store & Food Pantry
Open Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM, just East on M72 at 8925 M72 E., Williamsburg MI 49690, 231-938-2990. This is a Michigan non-profit corporation that fills a critical need among the working poor, single mothers, transients and other disadvantaged people who live in Antrim, Grand Traverse and Kalkaska counties by providing thrift-store donated merchandise at reasonable prices and using the revenue to operate a fully functional food pantry. http://www.acmechristian.org

Habitat for Humanity Build
Are you coming north with a friend to Annual Conference and feeling like you might have too much free time on your hands? Habitat Build, June 1-3, volunteers are needed for framing of walls (interior) and possible siding project. A max of 12 persons can engage in this construction possibility. If interested, please contact Michelle Reichert (mreichert@habitatgtr.org) by May 15.

Friday Night Opportunity

Friday night you will be on your own for dinner. This offers you a great opportunity to get on a bus or to carpool with others to one of our three Native Churches on the Grand Traverse District for dinner. A freewill offering will be received at each site to support the Native Ministry represented. Please consider what you would spend at a restaurant, the free transportation and the impact of your dollars as you give generously. THANK YOU!

You can travel north to Greensky Hill Indian Mission at 08484 Greensky Hill Rd., Charlevoix, 231-547-2028 and join the rich history, fellowship and dinner from 6 to 8 PM. Hors d’oeuvres of white fish. Dinner will be roast turkey, venison, wild rice, corn, squash and beans, corn soup and fry bread with strawberry shortcake and ice cream for desert.

Or you can travel west to Northport Indian Mission Campgrounds where Spirit Journey will be preparing a feast of roasted turkey, Indian corn soup, fry bread, other great side dishes and fruit salad for dessert. This time will include a program so that we can hear the stories of this new youth ministry focused on reaching and serving our Native American Young in the Northport Area. 12300 E. Camp Haven Rd. (Just south of Northport off of M-22 (West Bay Dr.) Festivities planned 6 to 9 PM.

If you want to stay closer to the Grand Traverse Resort, Kewadin Indian Mission is a great spot to stop for stories, snacks and history. Come and enjoy the atmosphere and the rich traditions from 5 to 8 PM, 7248 Cairn Hwy, Kewadin.
